Are you ready? Christmas Day is almost here… There’s hardly a waking moment that something about Christmas is not right in front of us… lights, decorations, music, special events, shopping, making cookies. And less time to finish it all. But you’re taking the time to stop and read these Advent thoughts.

Most of what we’ve shared is about how God has closed this gap and about how we can strip away all the surrounding trappings of 2000 years to embrace the real Christmas.

But what about you? Have you personally embraced the real Christmas? It’s more than anticipating that the best is yet to come. It’s about you receiving the gap-closing gift of eternal life. It’s about a restored relationship with God the Father. The baby and the manger were just the beginning for the God-Man, Jesus Christ. God Himself became the ultimate sacrifice that sealed the deal and closed the gap between us and heaven. That “baby” eventually died in our place to bridge the ultimate and insurmountable gap because God really does care about you.

So are you ready for Christmas? You can be ready with confident anticipation by admitting your need of a Savior. Acknowledge that the Gap between a perfect, holy God and you as sinful mankind is too distant. We can’t bridge it apart from Jesus, the Gap Closer. Ask Jesus to be your Bridge to a restored relationship with God and ask Him to forgive you of your sin. By accepting through faith this free gift from God, you’ll close the gap between yourself and Him forever.

If you’ve never asked Jesus to close that gap between you and Him you can do that in the quietness of your heart by expressing that to Him today. Opening that gift by placing your faith in Jesus today is the only way to be truly ready for Christmas now and for eternity!

For those who have a restored relationship with God it might be time to revisit where you are today. Has reality become buried in the archives of our busy lives?  Are you living with anxiety, bitterness or broken relationships abound you that need His healing touch? Has your relationship with God become so commonplace that it’s lost its impact on your life? Why not take this time to do a personal reset in your relationship with Jesus. He’s right there willing and ready to listen to your heart. In fact the Bible says, He’s knocking on the door of your heart because He would love to sit down and dine with you. (Rev. 3:20) Why not open that door and spend some time “closing the gap” with Him today?

John 1:12 (NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

John 3:16 (NLT) For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Rev. 3:20 (NLT) Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.
